How to join Discussion Group
Apr 8th, 2009 by methodistdisciple
You can easily join the discussion group to ask any of our guests questions or leave comments for them. They will be monitoring the site and will receive emails that let them know you have asked a question. There is a link contained in the text of each program posting as well as in the sidebar on the left side of the webpage (look for LINKS) that will take you to the page. Once you arrive, you will be able to view the discussion, but not join in to ask your own questions. In order to ask questions, you will need to set up a Google Account. The account is free and gives you access to all of the Google goodies, including this one. There is a link on the site to register. Once you have registered, log in under your account and you are all set. We look forward to your participation…

I just found your website and am thrilled by the wonderful ideas - probably because I have been talking about this very thing at my church, North Decatur United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
The leadership is worried about bringing people into the building. I urge us to go out into the community. For example, there are many apartments around our church which house large immigrant populations with lots of kids. There is so much we could do if we went there and started children’s programs and had a traveling drama group we could play off the back of a truck. We could engage the moms and help them with babysitting and language tutoring. We could help the dads find resources like jobs and used cars. We could work with the apartment managers to locate unused space in their buildings for worship. Some of us single people could even take an apartment there and begin a “distributive church station”.
There are many senior assisted living and rehab centers around us. Many of these folks are churched and seekers. But they cannot get to our building because they are wheel chair bound or bound to medical equipment. They are hungry for companionship and for the story of Jesus Christ. Once we start programs there we engage people in many other areas of their lives - most expecially, praying for their healing and visiting them when they are hospitalized. Then we connect with their families who may be seekers as well.
After all, we are all seekers at different stages of our spiritual journeys in our life with Our Lord, Jesus the Christ.
I will pray for the wonderful work the Church is doing.
